French Day

Last Friday, we celebrated our 'French Day' in school.
Key Stage Two were all involved in a French workshop by the Freshwater Theatre Company. In the performance, a number of well known stories were retold IN FRENCH. We even learnt how to sing 'Who's afraid of the big bad wolf'.......... in french! Both Mr Barton and Mr Kelly proved to be very scary wolves.
At lunchtime on Friday, our hot dinners had a very french theme. Children who brought sandwiches put something french into their lunchboxes. The hall was also decorated with lots of french flags and famous images from France.
We will have our next themed lunch in school this Friday.

Summer Fayre 2009

Our Summer Fayre on June 20th marked the start of our 'One World' month.
Every year group sang a song from another country. For example, Year 2 performed a song from Mexico, Year 4 sang a traditional French song and Year 6 sang a song from Brazil.
Reception picked 'Don't worry, be happy' from Jamaica, Year 3 danced along to a song from High School Musical, Year 1 performed a song from Africa and Year 5 embraced our Irish roots singing 'Molly Molone'.
All the performances were fantastic - well done!

Summer Fayre and leaflet

Holy Souls School will be starting our 'One World Month' on Saturday. We hope over the next five weeks to find out more about different countries, faiths and cultures which make up our local community and the wider world.

Leaflets about our up and coming 'One World Month' will be distributed tomorrow. On this you will be given lots of key dates and events that we have planned between now and the end of term.

Our One World Month will start at the Summer Fayre this Saturday. There is a fancy dress competition to dress up in the traditional dress of another country or culture. Do you know what you will wear yet?
